This spring, veterans in Minnesota have a little extra help from their state Department of Veterans Affairs.  Spring flooding is a potential hazard in the state of 10,000 lakes.  For residents of  about half of Minnesota’s counties, veterans, or their surviving spouses and families might be eligible for assistance funds up to $750.  This is only available if there is no other state or federal help for this spring’s flooding.

To apply for this assistance fund, keep a copy of any expense receipts, and apply by June 30th.  For more specific information, contact the appropriate County Veterans’ Service Officer.  Currently, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are assessing the flood damage across Minnesota.
